Kirstin Snodgrass Physiotherapy
Welcome

Whatever you love doing - sport, fitness, golf or a walk on the beach, I understand how important being able to do the things you love is, and how hard it is when aches and pains prevent you from doing so.

With my specialist physiotherapy knowledge and experience I can help you make a speedy recovery to return to the things you love.

Having worked at Olympic and Commonwealth Games, I aim to bring that same level of elite hands-on physio care to everyone I treat in East Lothian.

I work with you to identify the cause of your injury, help you regain full function and prevent recurrence.

To make an appointment please phone the number above, email or fill in the contact form below.

Physiotherapy

Neck and back pain

McKenzie Therapist

Specialising in treating neck and back pain, I am a credentialled McKenzie Therapist* and use various manual therapy and soft tissue techniques,  relieving pain and restoring mobility.

* Globally recognised as a leading treatment for back, neck and extremities disorders.

Rehabilitation

Pre-and post- surgery or fracture

Quality, comprehensive recovery support to help you regain strength and function. This will include  personalised advice and  treatment plans  pre-and- post surgery.  Whether it be shoulder, spinal, hip, knee or ankle surgery, I am familiar with orthopedic protocols and can liaise directly with your surgeon if required.

This can also include pre-op strengthening to give you a head start on recovery.

Sports injuries

Holistic Approach

I believe in assessing the myofacial chains that run throughout the body to ensure we don't only treat the injured area but rehab any imbalances in strength and flexibility to prevent recurrence.

Biomechanics

Prevention

I can provide full body biomechanics assessment tailored to your sport - analysing stability, strength, flexibility and control. Through this I can provide targeted exercise programmes aimed at improving imbalances and reducing the chance of injuries.

My
Story

My own experience of injury as a young international hockey player led me to studying physiotherapy. I enjoy keeping fit and the physical and mental health benefits I gain from exercise. I fully understand the mental impact an injury can have on your wellbeing and advise all patients on what they can do to safely maintain fitness regardless of injury!

My love of sport led me to pursue multiple elite physiotherapy roles, including working at the London Olympics 2012 and as part of Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.  I've worked for Sport Scotland with many sports including swimming, golf, judo and gymnastics, alongside many years with Scottish Hockey and the Scottish Rugby Union.

Since becoming a Mum I've stepped back from the demands of international sport and worked in the private sector at Spire Healthcare where I established a working relationship with many Lothian orthopaedic surgeons and gained a wealth of experience in quality post-op rehabilitation.

I currently work as an NHS Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner and am very excited to have my own practice to share my experience with clients in East Lothian.

I have completed several post graduate courses and study at Masters level and practice evidence-based physiotherapy.

These include:

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, 2001

  • Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine

  • Advanced Clinical Reasoning for MSK Physiotherapists
